Three letters written by Van Woert to his wife, Elnora (Ferris) Van Woert, during his trip to Washington in 1883 to locate a homestead, containing favorable impressions of the country as well as advice to his children; diary of Elnora Van Woert kept while sailing from New York around Cape Horn to San Francisco in 1869; letters from Elnora to her family; post cards and invitations; autograph book; and photographs, including one cased tintype of Lafayette Herrington, Civil War soldier with 27th Regiment, Illinois Volunteers.
